The wine has a bright, lifted nose with freshly picked blackberry fruits and expressive violet notes. The pallet is juicy but balanced. Ripe berry fruits are abundant, whilst gentle spice adds dimension. It’s weighty with soft, gentle tannins and an enduring fruit charged finish.
Boutinot’s partnership with the Caselles family has seen us source this wine from low yielding vineyards in Mendoza’s Agrelo region. This is Malbec for purists. 1,000 metre plus altitude helps the variety ripens slowly, and ensures the grapes alluring aromatics are preserved. Gentle extraction techniques are used to capture the juicy vibrant red and blackcurrant fruits which are hallmarks of this variety, but care is also taken to preserve the violet scent which can make Malbec oh so pretty.
Serve with steak… juicy, thick and rare.
