Rich and textured featuring succulent bramble fruit, a touch of liquorice, with gentle rounded tannins and a fresh, lingering finish. This is a medium to full bodied wine that is perfectly enjoyable on its own, or if you’re feeling experimental in the kitchen keep it local and try it with spaghetti puttanesca, a punchy pasta dish.

Primitivo (also known as Zinfandel in other parts of the world) has its ancestral home in this part of Italy. After being hand-picked and sorted, the grapes are vinified in stainless steel to maintain their fresh fruit character, then left to settle in oak vats for 10 months giving the wine to soften and harmonise.

Michele Biancardi presents his wine in a natural manner. Only manual picking, no use of pesticides or herbicides and only a minimal addition of sulphur if necessary. His Ponte Viro and Mille Ceppi are not filtered to preserve the authenticity of the wines. Because of this, there may well be a little sediment present in the bottle.
